Safety Vision & Principles
Commitment to the safety of our employees, our contractors, our customers and our communities is a core value at Duke Energy. A good safety record is not enough, because safety is not just about numbers. It’s about caring for each individual, and believing that safety is important. Working safely must be as much a part of our company’s culture as integrity and good citizenship.
The single most important factor in building a strong safety culture is leadership. That’s why our senior executives are held accountable for safety results, and are responsible for strengthening the safety culture throughout all of our businesses. Our Safety Vision and Principles serve as a guide for all employees—from the veteran executive to the newest hire. And our contractor safety program ensures that we have the same safety concerns and expectations for our non-employee workers.

Duke Energy employees and contractors at every level demonstrate personal commitment to continuous safety improvement, resulting in a zero injury and zero work-related illness culture.
