Caring for Our Wildlife
Duke Energy cares for the environment and the wildlife that inhabits the areas around our facilities. That’s why our employees support a number of programs to monitor and protect Peregrine Falcons, Least Terns, Wood Ducks and Eagles.
- Peregrine Falcons
- Employees at our Miami Fort Station help to preserve the peregrine falcon. View a video clip, falcon images, and learn about our successful efforts to increase the number of peregrine falcons, one of the nation’s rarest birds.
- Least Terns
- Gibson Station employees work to construct a protective earthen levee and island where a least tern population can continue to grow.
- Wood Ducks
- East Bend Station employees conduct annual wood duck bandings to help sustain the Wood Duck population in our area for future generations.
