Duke Energy supports critically needed health and human services organization each year by raising funds for United Way organizations. Our 2005 campaign kicked off with employees and retirees organizing and participating in a variety of fund-raising events.
Our U.S. and Canadian campaigns raised more than $8 million for over 380 United Ways through individual pledges, fund-raisers and our corporate foundation gift.
A Duke Energy representative currently serves on the United Way of America’s National Corporate Leadership Advisory Council, a forum of national companies sharing best practices in federated campaigns, volunteerism and community service. At local levels, many of our employees serve on United Way boards and committees helping to monitor, evaluate and improve the organizations’ effectiveness. Throughout the year, Duke Energy volunteers initiate and participate in hands-on projects helping United Way agency members throughout the U.S. and Canada.
