Areas of Focus Duke Energy Foundation Annual Grants
At the core of The Duke Energy Foundation is its commitment to the community, with a focus in three areas:
- Educational Attainment
- Competitive Workforce
- Community Vitality
Inclusiveness/diversity initiatives underpin all three areas of focus. A key integrating factor in all three areas is Employee/Retiree Community Engagement.
Educational Attainment
- Programs that help ensure at least a high school education or equivalency for at-risk students.
- Pre-K thru 12 education that meets the company/communities’ professional
needs, including math, science, technology and business acumen.
Competitive Workforce
- Job entry skills for the new economy.
- Retraining of unemployed and underemployed workers.
- Research needed to retool industries and create opportunities that fit the potential of each communities’ workforce skill pool.
- Higher education that meets the company’s professional needs.
Community Vitality
- Health and human services, generally through federated campaigns (e.g., United Way).
- Environmental conservation, education and research.
- Community leadership development.
- Targeted arts giving.
Duke Energy will continue to promote and recognize the tremendous benefit and skills its employees and retirees provide our community.
