Risk Management

Risk management is responsible for managing the Duke Energy companies’ wholesale commodity risks associated with the volatility of commodity prices and the risks associated with trading commodities. Using statistical/mathematical techniques, our staff monitors the Duke Energy companies’ portfolio to quantify and understand our companies’ exposures. Risk management works to identify and quantify the dynamics of risks, and the solutions that allow us to efficiently manage the sometimes-volatile changes in the markets. Our staff spends a great deal of time surveying the horizon for those possible “one percent events” that can shape industries and put companies at risk. This includes more than a simple understanding of the effects that these “what if” scenarios may have on our positions and future actions. This team has to be working architects to proactively shape the rules, regulations, strategies and events for our industry.

  • Strategist
  • Portfolio / Risk Analyst
