The Fayette Energy Facility is a 620 megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle merchant power plant located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, near the city of Masontown. Construction on the facility began in February 2002 and commercial operation commenced May 2003.

Located in the Pennsylvania-Jersey-Maryland Interconnect (PJM West), the Fayette facility provides needed generation capacity to meet future demand and enhance regional electric reliability. The facility is owned and managed by Duke Energy North America, Duke Energy’s Houston-based wholesale energy company.

The Fayette facility consists of two natural gas-fired combustion turbines, two heat recovery steam generators and one steam turbine operating in combined-cycle mode. It features duct-firing capability and can serve both peaking and intermediate loads. Each combustion engine is a GE-7FA class unit. Additional capital has been invested to allow for fuel oil operations. Texas Eastern Transmission Company (TETCO), a Duke Energy subsidiary, transports natural gas to the facility.
