Paul H. Barry Group Executive and President – Duke Energy Americas

Paul Barry is group executive and president of Duke Energy Americas for Duke Energy. He leads Duke Energy America, including trading and marketing, non-regulated generation, Duke Energy international operations and Duke Energy Generation Services, the company’s industrial utility outsourcing subsidiary.
Barry has broad experience in the finance and mergers and acquisitions arena.
He joined Duke Energy in June 2002 as vice president of mergers and acquisitions. He was named to his current positioning April 2006.
Barry previously served as vice president of business development for General Electric Capital Services Structured Finance Group. In that capacity, he was responsible for business development activities including identifying, structuring, negotiating and integrating merger and acquisition transactions and equity ventures within strategic investment sectors. Prior to GE, he was director of corporate finance for CBS Corporation (formerly Westinghouse Electric Corporation), where he was responsible for all corporate finance matters on strategic transactions associated with the restructuring of CBS/Westinghouse’s business portfolio. Before CBS, Barry worked for Amoco Production Company as a financial manager and senior analyst, last holding the position of director, acquisitions and divestitures. He began his career in financial management with General Electric in 1983 and is an alumnus of the Financial Management Program and Corporate Audit Staff. Barry has served on the boards of Trans-Elect, Inc. and AG Industries, Inc.
A native of Andover, Mass., Barry received a bachelor of science degree, magna cum laude, in finance from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. He also earned a master in business administration from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business Administration. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Executive Program.
